Well here I am. Now what?

Well by a somewhat cirqueitus route I appear to have arrived in blogging land. So let's see how this whole blogging thing pans out.

I suppose I should introduce myself and tell you why I'm here.

My name is Kate, wife, mother and self confessed caffeine and fabric addict. I have eclectic tastes in most things but hate (with a passion) frills, flounces and chintz - they give me hives. I have a weird sense of humour and I can be VERY sarcastic and irreverent ( so don't say I didn't warn you). I live in rural Southern England and sew things whilst drinking a LOT of coffee, which we my husband roasts.

Which brings us to my other persona as The Literate Stitch, I know intriguing daft  name, it made sense at the time and now I'm regretting having such a long monika as it's hard to fit on labels.

I've sewn for almost as long as I can remember. I blame my mother, she was an avid dress maker and embroiderer and I learnt to use her hand wheel ancient Frister Rossman almost before I could walk. Ok a slight hyperbole but I was definitely making dolls clothes by the time I was six or seven. I sewed on and off for the next twenty years making clothes for myself as a teenager and then for my daughters until they said ...

"enough already with the home made dresses mum, it simply isn't cool" sad day.

My sewing machine lay dormant in a cupboard for ten years as life took over and there was no time for sewing.

But then...

I found myself with spare time to fill and my love for sewing was reawakened. Not only that but my daughters reached their early twenties and now my dressmaking skills are cool again - yippee.

I discovered, through the delights of the internet and YouTube the skill of free motion embroidery and quilting, I took a class and so a new passion was born.

There now follows a gratuitous sewing porn shot!

PS. If you've read this far with getting bored thank you.
